My Project
My third-grade class is made of 27 amazing children. They range in diversity and ability. Some are Autistic, and many receive special education services. We are a Title I school, and all of my students are from low-income households, so they all receive free breakfast and lunch every day. My students love learning, and they work very hard each day. Their creativity inspires both me and each other. I am consistently humbled by their tenacious spirits, their loving hearts, and their curiosity about the world.
Students need more than just pencils and paper to learn.
Calm strips help temper anxiety, something we teachers have seen a huge rise in the past couple of years. Magnetic lockdown strips and door stops give us an added measure of security, something we must consider in today's world. Power strips keep us going, literally! The air filters will go in our air purifiers to keep us breathing clean air. Our old building has a rodent problem, so I've requested the ultrasonic repellents, peppermint oil, and spray bottles to humanely and safely repel them from our classroom. Number lines help gain a sense of the relationships between numbers. We'll use the tape to color-code our notebooks by subject area. Cardstock will be used for projects and learning centers. Scented markers enliven incentives and enhance the fun of rewards. Birthday stickers and thank you cards help make special days even more special.
