My Project

My classroom is comprised of seventeen 4-5 year-olds in a Universal PreK setting. The children actively engage in play with one another all day long in our classroom. Their play utilizes both the outdoors and the classroom as the third teacher.

We gather inspiration from the outdoors and bring it back into our room where we unravel it piece by piece through conversations and our play materials.

As we continue to be immersed by the changes of spring, my students are developing an interest in how things grow and change. They are wondering about how birds build nests, how they grow, and how things grow in the ground during the spring.

As we begin to think critically about birds and the changes of spring, my students are in need of a diverse range of open-ended materials that will further spark their thinking and conversations with one another. These materials will further spark their interests and become tools that they can engage with to undergo learning in tactile, observational, and tangible experiences.
