My Project

My students are very hardworking and eager to learn. They deserve nothing but the best. I am moving from kindergarten to third grade as a teacher this year. The group of students that I will be teaching have been taught by me before. I taught them in kindergarten, but spent part of the year teaching virtually due to Covid. This was 2020, when the pandemic first started. All of my students hold a special place in my heart, but due to the ending of our kindergarten year, I am determined to make this year a great one!

These items will add rigor and interest to my whole and small group math lessons.

They will allow me to use “real-world” examples to teach problem solving and math skills. I can use the magnetic tiles to represent pieces of pizza or candy bars. The magnetic clock can reflect a student's own math story. The possibilities are endless.

The books will help ease the stress of third grade and will help students understand their worth and importance within the classroom. Third grade is hard on children. It is full of assessments, which can bring unneeded stress on young minds and bodies. Although academics are important, social-emotional development is equally, if not more important. I want to help my students enter third grade stress-free. I want to help them build confidence in themselves and one another.

I am a firm believer in small group instruction. I believe that it is vital in order to differentiate within the classroom. The stools will add seating options within small groups. I will use the suffix, prefix, and root tiles as word work tools within small groups. All of these things come together to play a huge role in a student's success and overall development.
