This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students began 1st-grade in an unimaginable way...half at school and half at home.

They deserve an amazing 1st-grade experience no matter the circumstances.

These young students are inquisitive, creative, smart, fun, open to learning, and absolutely resilient. They've got this!

My Project

In my class, I try to think outside the box as often as I can. The material and supplies being requested will help us do just that. Currently, I use a treasure box filled with miscellaneous odds and ends as an incentive in class. Although the students do look forward to picking an item, the idea of doing so is more exciting than actually doing it. Enter the button machine. I plan on making buttons that the students can collect as brag tags. Unlike regular brag tags, these can be proudly displayed on a lanyard or backpack. The bigger buttons will be used to make buttons displaying the student's artwork or pictures. The stapler, markers, and tape will be used to create their artwork. The bins and folders will be used to keep all of our supplies organized.

The button maker will help my students get creative while thinking outside the treasure box and the crayon box.

I hope that using this as an incentive will motivate both my Brick and Mortar students as well as my Virtual Learners to continue to excel and do their best.
