Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Writing is a big part of our students' academics. Our third and fourth graders are working on producing three to four paragraphs for their essays. We understand that our students have different needs and in turn, need to adjust our approach to their learning. Some of our students need help with language organization as well as exercising their working memory. We believe that voice recorders would be super beneficial for those students who need help with orally sorting their writing. This way, they can independently hear for themselves their sentences.

We know that our students are capable and have so much potential.

We want to give our students what we can and request items we are certain will make a difference in their educational experience. When we’re not doing whole group instruction, we target our students' learning needs by separating them into groups for math and writing. There are times when we have an odd number of students and require an extra table. We believe that having a mobile desk would make it easier for us to incorporate our students in a way that gives them their own space. It would also be nice to have a standing desk for our students who fidget and work best standing. We understand that some of our students need that physical movement as a means of stimulating themselves.

We try our best to accommodate our class environment and are requesting chair bands for our students. In order for us to prepare and provide for our students we kindly request pouches and laminating pouches for the worksheets we use. We also kindly ask for kinetic sand. We give our students opportunities to earn free time, and we know that they are enthralled with kinetic sand. We would love to have more for them.
