Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In my classroom the students see their environment as a kind of (educational) toy store. Many don't have access to stimulating and motivating activities at home. They need to be exposed to the joys of learning and how other children around the world can share similar experiences. Reading. Listening.

Our school is a public charter elementary that embraces the child from school to home to community.

My students are eager to show what they know and to ask for more. As first graders and with primarily learned knowledge as opposed to experienced knowledge they need to be given clues, hints of what is out there in the big wide world...otherwise it may be a long haul to inquisitiveness and motivated self learning.

My Project

With more read-alongs to use with our listening center the students will have more opportunities to expand their reading comprehension, fluency, as well as explore cultural types of music and the shear joy of just listening to a story or song and doodle and sketch and do math puzzles!

If I can inspire my students to enjoy their academic career and become well rounded little people the future is bright.

The listening center will be their own world where stress is gone and learning happens because it just does.
