This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I have an energetic bunch of 6th graders who absolutely love a good story. We will be using these titles to run "Lit Circles" or book clubs where the group reads a selection each week, and meets together to discuss what they read. The fun part is that each discussion, they will play a different role such as the facilitator, the reporter, the word wizard, etc.
Reading in groups is so effective with 6th graders because they are incredibly socially motivated at this age!
I have picked titles that I know will become lifelong favorites for the students, including "The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe," "Hatchet" and "Holes" just to name a few!
