My Students

My students are eager, intelligent, and energetic 5th graders. They live in a rural, high-poverty area, and many of them struggle with academics as well as behavior. I try to find new and fun ways for them to engage in learning to keep school interesting. All of my students have unique personalities. They keep me on my toes, that’s for sure! It is my goal to create a safe, student-centered learning environment that helps each student succeed. My projects will always be focused on that goal. I hope you will consider helping me give my students the best classroom experience possible!

My Project

These alternative seating options will help make my classroom feel more like home to my students. I live in a low-socioeconomic area, and often home life is chaotic for many them. It is my goal to make my classroom look and feel like home, as this is where they will spend the majority of their time during the school year. I want it to be a refuge where my students can escape to, and where they can have some freedom in their choices on where and how they would like to complete their studies. Students are better able to focus and learn when they feel comfortable in their environment, and that is something that has become very important for me over my years of teaching.
