Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
My students are loving, curious, and passionate first graders from an urban community in Los Angeles, California. It is a diverse student population. They are motivated students who are eager to learn, be successful, and display their creativity in their academic endeavors. They are valued as active builders of knowledge who have many different ways of expressing their understanding, thoughts, and creativity.
Each child is viewed as infinitely capable, creative, and intelligent, and their social-emotional needs are brought to the forefront of our classroom.
They are innovators and explorers who look for new and creative ways of thinking. Our school community is very inviting and nurturing, which creates and fosters a safe and secure environment in which social-emotional care and academic growth is our priority.
My Project
The students in my first grade class are eager to read stories every day. We make time each day for independent reading or reading with a partner where each child gets to share the exciting stories in their book bag or from our shelves. It's so important that we find books to add that are both leveled for our emerging readers and inclusive for any child who walks into our classroom.
Reading helps our student's imagination grow and these stories will take them on exciting adventures as they build their reading skills.
Your support for this project will bring incredible new stories like "A Kids Book About Imagination" and "A Kids Book About Racism" that will support inquiry units around activism. Book sets like the "First Little Comics" will support our emerging readers with stories that are fun and engaging to add to their books bags. It is so important for us to have an enriching library where every single child finds a book that's inspiring and connected to them.
