My students need many materials...however, I believe basic supplies and technology will help with their learning needs such as worksheets, flashcards, data sheets ,many apps that track data, ape to customize each individual need.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are developmentally delayed, however, they are the happiest children you could ever meet! Full of happiness and joy. My students deal with the difficulty of communicating with their age level peers and adults that support them due to their communication disorders. My students need every advantage and resource I can possibly provide to help them become successful individuals in todays society... That comes down to basic school supplies. These supplies will aid them in reaching their speech and language goals and help the students be successful.
My Project
Students will have the opportunity to discriminate colors, practice their reading and writing skills.The supplies will be able to use worksheets that can be used as data collection or taken home to be used as homework. Student will be able to work on tablets that have customized designed apps for speech production that will track student data and progress. My project will reach more than 35 students. I asked for three tablets to use during therapy. I will be able to download therapeutic apps that will assist with giving therapy such as articulation apps which help distinguish sounds in words, phrases, sentences and eventually during conversational speech. Students will be able to log on to apps that will challenge their cognitive disorders and will log data for each individual student which will be used to show on-going progress. The other materials will help the students to place events in a story in the correct order, be able to write a sufficient essay using the proper strategies when writing paragraphs and finally, all students will benefit from context clues kit because all of my students on my caseload need support with vocabulary and using context clues is a great strategy to support unfamiliar vocabulary. It will reach all the students on my caseload and everyone will benefit from the therapeutic supplies. Each student will work at their own pace and achieve goals set for them on an individually based criteria.
