Therapeutic Sensory Space

My students need sensory products for other ways to output their sensory needs when they are frustrated or anxious.

My Students

My students, for this particular project, have speech-language impairments in addition the others with cognitive impairments. They are hands on oriented students and visual learners.

My students range from sixth to eighth graders in a middle school setting.

Some are in the general education setting receiving inclusion services while others remain in an ESE classroom. Together, we always are trying to utilize new resources and implementing technology daily. We also have more students with social emotional and mental health concerns. Therefore, we must find unique outlets for them to express themselves.

My Project

This project will benefit many of our middle school kiddos. At our middle school we are seeing an influx of students with mental and emotional issues in addition to ADHD and students with autism. I would like to have a space at school that will benefit all types of students that will allow them to have an outlet to gather themselves together. This would include a punching bag for stress relief, yoga mats for a relaxation corner, and a weighted blanket for our students with sensory issues. This is just a start since every student has unique needs. As we grow this room to be middle school age-appropriate, we will be able to add to it. Thank you for any support you provide!
