Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

At our middle school, our goal is to educate all our students in a safe, respectful, disciplined, and culturally diverse environment. Clear and direct communication, as well as challenging curriculum, will empower our students to become life-long learners and productive citizens in a world of work and technology contributing to assure their success. The vision of our middle school is to provide educational excellence for all the students so that all of our students are empowered to lead productive and fulfilling lives as lifelong learners and responsible citizens. We are a Title I school where many of our students come from many different countries and are in the US for the first time and living with relatives. Despite their struggles they are eager to learn and strive hard to be successful.

My Project

The aim of this project is to teach the students how to use meditation and breathing exercises to relieve stress. In order to allow for this, rest mats are very helpful for them to sit or lay down during the mindfulness process.

For example, there is a breathing exercise called "Mountain Pose" where the student has to stand without shoes and reach for the stars on his/her tippy toes.

These rest mats will provide the necessary support and feel for the student to carry out these poses. Thanks a lot.
