Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students walk into our classroom every day happy and excited for what is in store for them that day. I teach students who have special needs and despite their disabilities they are always trying to shine with their abilities! It doesn't take a special kind of teacher to teach special kids... my special students make me a better teacher! I start every morning with a high five and say " High five means I love you!" Building a positive community in a classroom of different kids!

I teach at a Title I school in Central Florida where 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast and free lunch.

I have some students that receive backpacks of food on the weekend and school supplies at the beginning of the school. I teach a class filled with students who have many different disabilities such as Downs Syndrome, Autism, non-verbal, and developmentally delayed. Despite so many hardships, my students are happy and enjoy trying to learn new skills.

My Project

The toys and materials that I have requested already have a “home”. This means I know exactly where they will go and when they will be used! Our class just needs help getting them! I am constantly working on ways to update our monthly themed curriculum for my special needs Pre-K students. The dotters will enhance our art center and help learn the color of the month learning. The bug observation and magnet sorting Rods will be used in our table toy center during the month of October and during spring. The themed boxes will help organize and enhance our monthly themes. All these materials will make my Pre-K special needs kids happy and learning through play!
