This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our student population qualifies for free lunch. A lot of our students have been classified by others as being troubled, but they have grown to love our art department. My students have really blossomed with their visual problem solving skills
They are diamonds in the rough and are always looking for ways to express themselves.
Their grit has challenged me to be more creative in exposing them to different mediums, techniques and visual problem solving. My students are amazing.
My Project
Every artist needs a sketchbook! My students will be able to collect inspiration, experiment, and do research in their very own sketchbook!
Sketchbooks provide a no-pressure place to visually explore and express themselves.
You can use a sketchbook as a place to explore different mediums, study different techniques, and keep a collection of visuals that inspire you. Using a variety of mediums in a sketchbook also helps grow creativity.
Working in their sketchbooks daily will improve their skills & abilities. And their sketchbooks will provide them to take time away from the computer!
