I work at a Title I school, which means my students come from low income/disadvantaged homes. Most are English Learners, and speak a different language at home. We also have a large number of refugees. All students receive free lunches and many receive free clothes from school as well.
Although these students come from low-income households, they are not any less deserving of a wonderful classroom experience.
I work hard to create a positive classroom environment where students feel comfortable to learn and are set up for success for years to come.
My Project
Every year the students take many standardized tests including the STAAR test! The most effective way I have found for them to improve their scores is to color code their answer choices and evidence in the story with highlighters!
Currently we do not have enough highlighters, so the students use colored pencils, crayons or markers.
This can cause a variety of problems, since sometimes those methods can make the text hard to read. Highlighters are transparent, so there is no issue!
These highlighters I am requesting are going to make a direct and strong impact on my students success on tests!
