Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The enchanting world of puppet theatres, whimsical wigs, and dapper top hats creates a vibrant and immersive learning environment that can profoundly transform students' learning journeys. This engaging setting fosters creativity, imagination, and collaboration, encouraging students to express themselves freely. By participating in puppet shows, they develop essential skills such as storytelling, communication, and problem-solving, all while having fun. The hands-on experience allows my 23 classes of students to explore different perspectives and cultures, enhancing their understanding of the world.
My aspirations for the art of puppetry within elementary education are to cultivate a love for storytelling and the arts.
I hope to inspire students to see puppetry not just as entertainment but as a powerful tool for education and expression. By integrating puppetry into the curriculum, we can address various subjects, from language arts to social studies, making learning more interactive and memorable. I envision a future where puppetry becomes a staple in classrooms, helping students to build confidence and creativity.
The unique magic that my Title 1 students bring to the stage lies in their diverse backgrounds, experiences, and imaginations. Each one of my 560 students contributes their individual flair, creating a rich tapestry of ideas and performances. Their enthusiasm and fresh perspectives breathe life into the puppets and stories, allowing them to connect with the audience in meaningful ways. The joy and laughter they share on stage create an unforgettable experience, not just for themselves but for everyone involved.
During their recesses my room is also open offering art choices, puzzles, books, music instruments, wall mirrors to practice dance. The more healthy choices a student has the more well rounded they become!
