My Students

Theatre transforms lives and give students opportunities they may not otherwise have. I teach students at a Title 1 school, with an extremely diverse student population. Three years ago, our theatre program was cut due to budget restrictions and the theatre teacher was let go. The remaining theatre students fought tirelessly to keep theatre alive in the form of an after school club. This perseverance paid off and theatre is finally being brought back to our school.

My students deserve a thriving theatre program where their creativity can soar.

Students at my school are creative, inquisitive, and want nothing more than to grow as theatre students. They have shown me time and time again that this program matters to them and they want it to be successful.

My Project

In the theatre classroom, it is imperative that students have access to supplies, which will provide them a strong foundation for developing characters in performances, as well as a solid background in how to develop strong design skills for theatrical productions.

Students at my school have gone far too long without a true theatre program and these supplies will go a long way in helping us begin to rebuild the program from the ground up.

Make-up supplies allow students the ability to learn how to apply make-up specifically for stage productions. Plays allow students foundational skills in how to read plays, analyze plays, and begin the design and character development process for stage productions. Scene and monologue books give students a chance to work on the acting skills through a variety of materials.

These supplies are just the first step, but they are an important beginning in order to help my students and myself achieve our theatre dreams.
