Help me give my students the hands on opportunity to learn about owls and their ecosystems!

My Students
I teach third grade, gifted and talented and I have twenty-seven students. My classroom is filled with a diverse group of students from all backgrounds, academic levels, etc. They are the coolest, most intelligent bunch of students I have ever met! They are hard working, entertaining, and motivated.
My students have a variety of strengths as well as a variety of needs, both academic and social.
I work hard to educate all learners in my room, and we have fun doing so each and every day.
My Project
This pandemic has made teachers think about what subjects and skills are the most important and need to be taught for a solid foundation to progress through the school year. I am finding that science is the first thing that gets put on the back burner and unfortunately science is best taught through hands on experimentation. Limited time and new protocols (remain six feet apart) make it hard to teach a successful science lesson.
I am determined to make science hands on, exciting, interesting, and engaging and this project will allow my students to dissect their own owl pellet (in the classroom), discovering new information about an owl's ecosystem.
The students and I have been learning about plants, animals, and ecosystems. We have also recently started reading a book titled, Poppy. The main character, the protagonist, is a mouse and the antagonist is a mean owl, named Mr. Ocax.
This project will allow my students to see an owl pellet, something they have only read about and discussed. It will help them visually understand that an owl can't digest bones and fur (especially when they start dissecting and realize that they will find the bones of an entire mouse in the pellet). It will allow my city students to come closer to nature.
