My Students

As a 2nd grade teacher at a Title I school, my students come from a variety of backgrounds with the majority of my class qualifying for free and reduced price lunch. What makes our class so unique is that we are a melting pot of cultures in the classroom. We are respectful and tolerant of each other's differences. My students are readers who love to learn and read at every chance they get. They love anything that they can get their hands on and explore with. They are curious and look at the world with questions and awe. To continue this spark of creativity, I want to integrate more than just paper based learning. My students fill with excitement at any opportunity to work innovative projects, technology, and out of the box thinking.

Even with the challenges that they face at home and in school, my students come with a smile on their face everyday, ready to learn.

My Project

In a technology driven world, majority of my students lack a computer at home and their only access to the internet and large resource of knowledge at their fingertips starts at school. With only 3 computers in the classroom, class projects often take longer to complete as finding and splitting computer time between a class of over 23 students becomes challenging.

By donating to our project, you are not only gifting simple tablets, but you are gifting access to knowledge that will impact and enrich the students of our future.

My students will be able to use these tablets to explore a variety of applications that will help improve their academic achievement. There are so many engaging applications for all types of students at all different levels to meet whatever needs, whether it be to improve reading fluency, number sense, research based projects, or even to search up why the sky is blue. My goal for my students is for them to see how big the world truly is and how accessible knowledge about that world is through technology. With this resource, higher level thinking can be reinforced as they will be encouraged to discover how to find answers on their own to fulfill independent projects.
