Help me give each of my students a brand new copy of The Wizard of Oz. I have requested the first edition of the book, with the original illustrations!

My Students
There is more treasure in books than in all the pirate’s loot on Treasure Island.” – Walt Disney
I have the pleasure of teaching Language Arts and Social-Studies to all the 4th graders on campus.
I teach at a 4th -8th grade public school for the arts. It is a very diverse group of about 100 students!
Our students come from all over the county - from every walk of life. The one thing that brings them together is their love of the arts. In my room, it starts with enriching literature, poetry, and opportunities for the students to express themselves in their writing.
My Project
This year I would love to read a classic of American literature with my students - "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" by L. Frank Baum. Our current books are so old that they are crumbling and falling apart.
This project would help us have a brand new set of "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" books that our 4th graders will be able to read for years and years!
We will be reading together as a class, and learning about the author. Did you know that he wrote some of the story in San Diego (on Coronado Island). The book is over 100 years old, so it includes some vocabulary that today's children don't encounter that often. It is a fun way to teach vocabulary and enrich their knowledge of life a century ago.
