Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have twenty kindergartners. They love to be active, and so do I. We are not the best with organization and having a spot for everything, but we get the job and or projects done.

My students are all so unique, and, as a result, I must differentiate their activities and design projects and wall anchor charts for a variety of levels.

With that said, this does not stop me from making their room fun and inviting. This year has been the most rewarding for me because my lovely twenty are willing, able, and ready to learn every day.

My Project

With so much knowledge being thrown at my little ones, remembering it all can be overwhelming. However, if they help create and search for photos or information on their own or with their peers and then have it placed in the room for reference, the knowledge becomes more valuable, and they will retain it or use it to have collaborative conversations with peers without the help of the teacher.

When students have projects on the wall created by them, there is pride in that, and, as a result, learning is more enjoyable and memorable.

This method of self-directed learning is priceless because the students seek out and use what is in the room created by them. Standard W.K.8 states that students will with guidance and support from adults, recall information from experiences or gather information from provided sources to answer a question. I believe this project will help them achieve that and so much more.
