My Students
I have been asked to describe my students. The majority of the young adults I teach across three grades originate from low-income families. Many are homeless, as defined by our school district.
Currently, students do not get the opportunity they deserve in the classroom.
These students face challenges that many could not imagine each and every day they walk the halls of their high school. They are all good kids, but they need to be challenged much more than they are in their classes currently. They enjoy a good laugh.
Sadly, I believe they have low expectations for themselves and this breaks my heart. Each is more than able to succeed, but due to their life and the environment they have been raised, they have gotten comfortable. I want to change their way of thinking and prove to them they can and will succeed!
My Project
These materials will provide me with the opportunity to better my students' education, both at home (virtually) and at school (traditional). The difficulty of transitioning these students to virtual learning is difficult.
These students want to learn and they have the power to do so, but finding interesting avenues to pique their interest and give them a more interactive education has been difficult.
I remember how much fun these programs were and I believe my students would greatly enjoy the interactive method of teaching I would like to implement into my classroom. With your help.
