Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
My students worked very hard this year to put on a full-length production of Beauty and the Beast. When it came time to perform, their mics kept cutting out and sometimes wouldn't come on at all. It was devastating for some of my students. The entire cast was sad. The sound system was too old.
My students go to a Title 1 school.
The school has a very split demographic, consisting of mainly Hispanic and Caucasian. All my students have a heart of gold and mean a lot to me. Most of these students don't have any experience in the theater and don't know what to expect when putting on a production. It was exciting to see my cast come together as a team toward the end of rehearsals and pull off an amazing show. The only drawback is that our resources are limited.
My Project
We need a new soundboard mixer, monitors for the stage, speakers for the audience, a patch bay, wireless mics for the actors and appropriate receivers and cords to hook everything up. Next year my students will use this sound system in their Fall and Spring one-act plays and Spring Musical. After working so long and hard to put on a production, I would like their families to be able to hear them loud and clear to make it all worth while. The performers can also learn better pitch if they can hear themselves singing with the music during the show. In addition, because of the faulty equipment, my stage crew students are seeing how a production can go wrong technically, and I would like them to see how a production can go right.
This project will not only improve the quality of learning for my current students, but my students for many years to come.
They can feel that their efforts are worth while. Also, my stage crew students that go on in the theater will have experience with a digital soundboard, which is what all theaters will be using. They can keep up with technology and learn something that they can use in the future.
