My Students

All students attending our Kindergarten Center are in kindergarten, there are no older students in the building. There are currently eleven kindergarten classes. They come from all over West Valley School District with a number of students starting in West Valley from neighboring school Districts (18%). Most of our kindergartners come from working class families. Fifty-four percent of our students receive free or reduced lunch. For many students, playing a musical instrument is a very low priority. The Ukulele Project will help our youngest students to play an instrument, a skill they may carry through like.

My Project

This project will provide each kindergarten student a ukulele during music class and also provide the instruments to start the first club at our Kindergarten Center.

There are only five ukuleles to use when a Kindergarten class has music.

The requested ukulele donations will guarantee that all students have a ukulele to play. There are currently a very small number of after-school activities at Millwood. These donated ukuleles will be the catalyst for a new UKULELE club. The UKULELE CLUB will meet regularly, after school, and will be joined by a number of adults who have also just learned to play the ukulele.
