My Students

Our students come from a wide range of backgrounds, cultures and ability levels. Our school is a Title I school, and we have many English Language Learners. Many students come from a disadvantaged background. and are facing economic challenges.

There is a wide range of individual needs from students with learning disabilities, behavioral, speech and language disorders to students with Autism.

Despite these challenges, we all put forth our best efforts every day, making the most of the supplies we have been given!

My Project

These books will give an often overlooked perspective of the first Thanksgiving: the Native People. This year marks the 400th anniversary of that event.

Students need authentic, fact based books to counter the myths that have persevered about the three day celebration in 1621.

Students need books from the Wampanoag perspective to truly understand the events.

There are not enough books from a Native Peoples' perspective. Their voice has been neglected and students will have the opportunity to learn about their culture and traditions. Students will compare and contrast the real first Thanksgiving with how it is celebrated today.
