Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
Hi! My students are from a large elementary school in a small farming town located in the Central San Joaquin Valley. They are much like the bread basket we live in, and are very diverse. We have a large second language learner community that includes Spanish, Punjabi, and Arabic.
One thing we all have in common is our desire to learn.
My students are hungry to achieve and I want to do everything I can to provide them the very best instruction and opportunities to learn.
My Project
Having class sets of books lets us learn to love to read in a community setting. Third grade is a pivotal year in developing reading skills. In younger grades, students are learning how to read- sounds, words, and sentences. In third grade, students are now applying those to skills to create meaning and feeling.
Students will use the these books to get to know characters on a deeper level as well as more developed plots than they are used to.
Reading novels with relatable characters helps children become lifelong readers. I hope that by introducing students to novels they will be less intimidated to begin picking them up on their own.
