Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a third grade teacher at a school in the South Bronx. Our children come from low income homes and are academically low performing. Our school is located in an impoverished area of the South Bronx. Our kids are struggling with so many problems such as homelessness, living in shelters and parents struggling with drugs and alcohol abuse. Many of them come from single parent homes (absent fathers), and even endured physical abuse. Others live in foster care and elderly grandparents. For these reasons and probably many others that we don't know about, these children do not have many luxuries. They rarely if ever get to go see a live show. It have been my dream to provide these kids with some happiness in the world they are living by taking them to Radio City Music Hall for the Christmas spectacular. I know that my students will be so happy and grateful if they could have the opportunity to see such a wonderful show. I hope that this can touch one of the many kind hearts that look into this site to help somebody in need. Thank you in advance for taking your time to read our proposal.
