My Students

A student is only as successful as the chances they are given. Our school is a wonderful, historic elementary school in eastern Henrico County, VA.

My students are primarily high poverty students: grades K-5, and will be engaging in movement, exploration, improvisation, notation, and creation through varied instructional techniques!

Presently, our music program is lacking the proper tools to provide the students with the best possible musical success. I am looking forward to working with the students and fostering a love of music that they will carry with them for the rest of their lives.

My Project

I am requesting 8 tunable Remo 10-inch tubano drums for my elementary music students. Our school does not have very many instruments presently, and I am looking to build up a class set of different instruments for my students.

One of the many things we work to accomplish in music class is the study and understanding of different world cultures.

This is achieved through singing, dancing, and the playing of instruments - of which, drums are an integral piece. Achieving this goal will be a small, but immensely helpful step in providing my students with the best possible music education that they deserve.

Our population is primarily high poverty, so experiences outside of the classroom are limited for many of these students. It is my hope and intention to widen their pool of opportunities and to provide them with first rate musical instruction. Thank you for your help and consideration to donate!
