This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students and I enjoy going on reading adventures and love to read! My school is a Title I campus, we are a border city and the majority of our students are newcomers to the English language. Every year my goal as a bilingual teacher is to get them to exceed in the English Language. I like to motivate and encourage my students to follow along as I read to them so they can grasp and learn the English language in a more fun and effective way. These novels will get them excited especially when I tell them it's carpet time. I want to provide my students with a wide range of books. I want them to have these books tangible so they can enjoy each page as they read and at the same time these will benefit my English languge learners. These kiddos are our future and I want to provide them with literature that they enjoy.

I love this quote because "Once upon a time" means story time and my students love to read new books and listen to read alouds.

I want my students to enjoy reading these books while taking me back down memory lane. I remember when I read The Tale of Despereaux and all the beautiful themes this book contains. Students will learn about friendship, hope, family, and love. At the end of our book I would like to have a celebration for them: Popping into Reading!! We will enjoy making popcorn and using new vocabulary to help our English language learners express themselves.
