Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a music teacher who would like to unite Technology with the Arts. My school is a STEAM school where we combine Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. We already use technology in our everyday lives and I would like to bring it to the forefront in my elementary classroom. The sound equipment will be used in events that are open to our community. Throughout the year we have patriotic events, we honor our veterans, we celebrate multicultural holidays, we emphasize inclusion of special needs, we love ourselves and we love our country.

We are preparing students for jobs and environments that might not exist right now."

Some of these items we have owned in the past, but they have become worn over the years. Even when you take really good care of any cable, eventually it needs to be replaced. The thin wires inside the cables become bent and break off. We need guitar cables for amplifiers. We think rehearsing with the use of amplified instruments encourages confidence in public speaking and performance that can be used even in their adult lives. It helps them connect with the community around them. We also need DVD players, extension cords, LED busy boards, and a roll-up drum pad. I have seen a budding self-esteem just flourish with confidence after what seemed like an unbelievable performance. Our students need to be supported and encouraged to overcome their fears, inspire others, and create memories that will last a lifetime.
