My Students

You can never have enough books. That's why, I've let the students speak.

I asked; they answered.

My eighth graders have compiled a list of books and types of books that they'd like to see in the classroom library. While we have an pretty good selection of books, one of the things we are lacking is more recent additions to series books. Series books are very popular, but the fault with them is that if the series isn't over, there are new books coming out that need to be purchased to complete the set (and the story). This list meets the demand for sequels.

My Project

There's also a big push for students to read nonfiction. While I received some student recommendations for nonfiction, I also chose books that will pique the interests of the students. By having a wider selection of nonfiction in the classroom, I can meet the demands of the students who are both interested in reading it as well as the students who need practice reading nonfiction with books that are accessible to them.

Donations to this project will keep our classroom library stocked with recent titles in series that the students are asking for.

It will also introduce to the classroom a variety of nonfiction titles of various levels in order to promote reading in this genre.
