Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I have a class of eager, energetic 4-5 year old students. For my class project, "The Story Begins In Kindergarten...And They Live Happily Ever After," I am asking for fairy tale books and science books on different topics. The fairy tales will make a difference in my students learning because these stories are well known, engaging and many students have probably seen some of the movies. What a fun way to compare the book to the movie. If it is a new experience to some, these books will be an introduction to the classics and fairy tales. I feel these types of stories will spark an interest in books and reading.

The science readers will introduce the children to a new book genre- nonfiction.

They will be introduced to books about different animals. They will learn that nonfiction books use real photographs. The children will also be given exposure to new vocabulary and learn about different beginning science topics in age appropriate language since these books are written according to their beginning reading levels.
