Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"An investment in knowledge pays the best interest." - Benjamin Franklin Our students will have increased their awareness and understanding of the importance of saving and investing. The biggest challenge we would face is not having the necessary technology and supplies.

The majority of my students qualify for free and reduced price lunch through the federal lunch program, indicating a high level of poverty.

We are a 3rd grade ICT class in the Bronx. Our class is filled with wonderful and diverse learners. We are inquisitive, hard working, and goal-oriented. Our school is a place where we strive to make our students feel safe, while making sure every child gets a great education. Our resources are very limited when it comes to technology.

My Project

Our students will be participating in the Stock Market Game and PwC's Earn Your Future Curriculum. The Stock Market Game is played online and students get to compete against other schools with a goal of making the most money. The MacBook will allow our students to research companies, enter trades and build an online portfolio. The MacBook will also strengthen their computer and Internet skills. Studies have shown that technology has increased students' confidence and motivation by making school work more fun. Students will use their notebooks/pencils/highlighters to take notes and work on tasks. The paper will be needed to print out lesson plans and research papers.

Donations to this project will help our students have the necessary tools to compete in the Stock Market Game.

A study of the SMG program by the American Institutes for Research confirmed that the Stock Market Game not only engages students, but it improves academic performance, financial knowledge, saving, and investing habits. Our students will incorporate technology as they learn all about financial literacy. They will have fun and see how these classroom lessons apply to the real world.
