My Students

I teach a small group of 3rd-5th grade students with a variety of cognitive, physical and speech impairments in my school's Specific Learning Supports Program. For each student, learning occurs differently and the needs of each student is never the same. But this is the beauty of the learning process in my classroom. To watch my students attack independent learning goals, while developing social relationships with their peers, has been nothing short of amazing.

The best feature of my class is that I have an opportunity to loop with my students until they complete elementary school.

So, for those students who entered my program in 3rd grade, they will have the opportunity to spend up to 3 years creating memories filled with learning and fun. Our "a-ha" moments are memorable and they do a really great job of encouraging one another when the learning gets a bit tough. We are much like a family, and I wouldn't trade the experience for the world.

My Project

It's been nearly six months since our introduction to distance learning. And trust me, my students and I are still adjusting to the change in our routines. For my students, and myself, we miss opportunities to engage with peers and colleagues that would normally happen if we were in school. With more time being devoted to screen time, the need for this project being funded is great.

While we may not be able to experience our face to face interactions, we realize that learning still needs to occur.

I want to be able to provide quality lessons to my students as if I were face to face. At times, due to weaknesses with vision, a bigger screen is required to deliver these lessons. While my laptop is resourceful, a computer monitor will assist with prevention of eye straining as there is much to be done via computer these days.

The Sceptre Curved Monitor will provide a bigger platform for me to see my students. When recording lessons or engaging in live lessons, I want to be able to deliver similar instruction that would occur in the classroom. This will also be beneficial during small group instruction. Having to use a laptop during a normal school day is no problem, but these days have not been so normal. A simple USB connection will project the image onto a projector. There are also times in which technology is not needed when delivering face to face instruction. With the introduction of distance learning being so new, we now realize how necessary these items are with instruction.

We hope that you will be able to help us with our project!
