Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach a class of four students ranging in age from 6-8. These children all have severe and profound mental and physical disabilities. Some of the students are non-ambulatory, non-verbal, and require maximum assistance from adults to complete simple tasks. These children show the most response and enthusiasm when presented with auditory and tactile stimulation.

Music time is one of the students favorite times of the day. Their faces light up and they are engaged and happy. Unfortunately, we do not have a CD player, children's CDs, or enough musical instruments that the students can use.

With these musical instruments, bells, CDs, and CD player, the students can enjoy hours of musical stimulation. They can all participate in the music lessons at the same time and can use different instruments each day.

You will bring a smile to the faces of four young children with severe disabilities. They will enjoy at least an hour a day of listening to music and experiencing a variety of musical instruments. Their faces will light the world.
