This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students need a serene and inviting space where they can unwind and find their calm. Incorporating fidget toys, aromatherapy with essential oils, and other relaxing tools can further enhance the effectiveness of a calming corner.

A calming corner for students is crucial for their emotional and academic well-being.

It provides a safe space for students to manage stress and anxiety, practice emotional regulation, and enhance focus. This dedicated area promotes positive behavior, supports mental health, and helps students return to their tasks with renewed energy and concentration.

Creating a calming center equipped with sensory toys offers numerous benefits for students. These centers provide a safe and supportive environment for children to decompress and manage stress, particularly for those who experience sensory overload or have specific sensory processing needs. Sensory toys, such as fidget spinners, textured objects, and calming lights, can help students self-regulate their emotions and improve focus. Additionally, these calming centers promote inclusive education by addressing the diverse needs of all students, fostering a more compassionate and understanding school community. The incorporation of sensory toys enhances students' learning experiences, helping them thrive both academically and emotionally.
