My Project

I work in two schools with very different needs. While my high school students are all autistic, my elementary students are a mix of different needs. The materials in this project will help my autistic students with their sensory needs while attending sessions. The sensory aspect is very important for the autistic community to be able to stay focused and attend to tasks as well as to self regulate and attend to their emotional needs. Students can benefit from fidgeting and touching different textures. Some students like to look and experience different lights.

Cleaning supplies as well as the sanitizers will help maintain a clean and sanitized space.

As for the printer, a lot of the projects and activities completed by students requires colored printers which are readily available for SLPs and students to use. For instance, working on their personal holograms last year as an ice breaker activity was very entertaining and helped getting to know each student as well as how they perceive themselves. However, printing these in black and white took away the beauty and life from their designs and pictures.

My goal for this project is obtain the materials to keep the therapy room clean while also providing a safe and sensory friendly space for my students. Any help with accomplishing this will help my students tremendously. Thank you!
