My Students

We live in a society exquisitely dependent on science and technology, in which hardly anyone knows anything about science and technology.-Carl Sagan. Together, we have a chance to change this phenomena.

I teach in one of the most diverse schools in the world.

My students are from America, Korea, Russia, Mexico, Mongolia, Turkey, China, and India. My students are both low income and middle class. The range of experiences, language, and knowledge is so vast. Gaining shared knowledge and experiences is what brings us all together.

My Project

My students need books connected to science as well as some writing and spelling tools. We need books about the Amazon, Food Chain, and Magnetism. If we are given these resources, my students won't need to learn the facts from their teacher. They will discover them in books. Reading about the Amazon can open their minds to the vast world around them. They will realize how diverse ecosystems are and how they have an impact on the world around them. They will have questions and be able to find the answers out themselves.

Students will gain the life skills needed to find the answers to their questions through research.

Additionally, they will question their own behaviors and how it is related to science. How is each child and adult helping the environment? If they do not, how will our world and all that live in it survive?
