This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students are young musicians with a song in their heart. They are gaining the tools to create the music and now they can share their music with the world.
Our students are budding musicians that have been exposed to the art for the first time at the ages of 14-17.
They are some of the most advanced 'beginners' that we have ever seen. What they lack in experience, they make up for in determination, creativity, and raw talent. They have an ear for good music and are determined to improve the quality of music that they are exposed to by taking control of what they listen to and creating something better.
My Project
Students in our program range from Intro to Music students who will utilize the Komplete software to create basic melodic patterns and experiment with the timbre of various instruments. Students in the performance ensembles will create background tracks to their own solo performances. AP Music Theory students will develop their skills by orchestrating their exercises and compositions for peer analysis. Regardless of the class, this software will allow all of the students to realize their musical ideas into professional sounding recordings that they can be proud of and that will foster more complex musical ideas. They can think in tone colors, not just pitches and rhythm.
Nothing is more rewarding than hearing your own ideas realized into a full musical work.
Unfortunately, because of limited instrumentation and the fact the students are essentially still beginners, many of the works are too complex for the performance ensembles to play on their own. This virtual instrument will allow the students' creativity to be represented as well as their musical ability. Thank you for your consideration.
