My Students

Although not everyone will agree, it is clear to me and to my students that The Scarlet Letter is the best book ever.

Year after year, my students love this incredibly challenging book.

They don't care that the words are impossible and the sentences are tremendously long. Rather, my students love getting into the story of Hester Prynne and Arthur Dimmesdale and Roger Chillingworth. They love talking about the big themes: sin, judgment, evil, truth.

My Project

Because it's still relevant, The Scarlet Letter is a perfect example of a classic that should be taught. Unfortunately, at my school, our copies of the book are getting old and need replacement. The edition I'm requesting -- the enriched classic by Pocket Books -- offers excellent additional material to guide students through the difficult text.
