My Project

I am requesting this program cost to continue to be a transformational teacher and leader in the classroom. I have been using mindfulness and yoga to foster healing and social change in my school and community. I see the positive effects of this upon students who now ask for mindful meditation and breath work before classes start because they have experienced the positive results it brings which creates a safe space of acceptance, gratitude, and kindness that can ripple and create positive change in their school and community where all citizens ultimately benefit. There is a visible release and peace that the students experience which prepares them for learning and frees them from the stresses that accompany teens. They utilize visualization and meditation to achieve goals in sports, homework, and other areas and share this with friends. I've been able to share vital trauma informed SEL skills with my students and teach them ways of successfully solving perceived problems, personal and interpersonal, improving their communication skills and becoming aware of the micro and macro effects of behavior and words allowing for a continued resource to fall back on when needing to confront an issue again. With this program, I will be able to enhance my pedagogy, deepen my expertise in mindfulness and yoga, and improve my ability to foster healing and social change in my school and community helping to create positive change in our young global citizens who in turn can create lasting, positive change in our world where all global citizens benefit.
