My Students

My students are lively and endearing children who are on the Autism Spectrum. They need engaging materials to help them achieve their speech and language goals which include learning necessary vocabulary, expanding their utterances, comprehending basic concepts, and following directions.

I am a speech-language pathologist that provides services to students in kindergarten to second grade with moderate to severe Autism.

Many of my students are either non-verbal or minimally verbal. They are learning to communicate their basic wants and needs through picture exchange, speech generating devices, or verbal phrases. Many of them are also learning to answer questions and follow directions to promote academic success while others are learning to label objects and actions or socially engage with their peers. My students need and deserve the best materials to help them achieve their goals. As a new therapist, I would love and greatly appreciate support in providing them quality and engaging materials that will set a foundation for years to come.

My Project

Many of my students have sensory needs that interfere with attention and learning. Sensory objects like the glitter sensory balls provide sensory input that help my students remain focused and complete activities.

The Touch and Learn Picture cards will help my students, especially my ELL students to learn vocabulary through tactile cues.

The Positional Words Resource Box is an engaging and interactive activity that will help my students understand prepositions such as “in, on, under, and next to” that are found in many directives. It will also give them opportunities to engage in play and reinforce learning.

The Category Sorting Activity will provide an engaging way for my students to learn vocabulary, and build category associations. The Social-Emotional Photo Library will provide real life images to teach my students to identify and express various emotions which will help with social skills.

The Create-A-Scene will be an engaging way to learn curriculum vocabulary, expand utterances, and use adjectives.
