Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I believe it is a right to learn to read, not a privilege. Unfortunately, our school cannot afford new books, so learning to read is difficult for my students. I want for all of them to not only become successful readers, but gain a love for reading!

My students are a bunch of eager third graders with disabilities in a Title 1 school in New York.

They are lively and excited to learn each day, but do not have many resources to make this possible. Currently, their reading levels range from kindergarten to 4th grade. This means that not only do we need a lot of books, but a variety as well.

My Project

As an adult I love to read. I believe that this was only made possible by having the opportunity to read books that interested me. It is my wish to offer that same opportunity to each of my students. I am sure that with more engaging books their reading skills will improve. They will be able to pick up books that are not torn, that are exciting and that they just cannot put down.

My students need to be given the chance to achieve.

These new books will make a huge difference in the reading lives of my students. In order for all of my students with varying needs to become successful readers, they need appropriate books. Your donations will greatly help them get what they need to succeed!
