Take part in creating a comforting reading environment that will help children develop a lifelong love of reading. I am a fourth grade teacher in a high-need community. My school lacks the funding to create an inviting reading area for students.

This year the students are involved in a wonderful reader's workshop. The students are given the opportunity to explore the classroom library, choose from numerous genres of books, and develop the daily habits of reading. The one thing missing, though, is a comfortable place to enjoy this.

My students love having opportunities to move around the room and feel free from the desk they are stuck at for most of the day. With a bean bag to sit on and a few pillows to lean on, I can give them a reading nook away from their desk. I know that they will enjoy their books that much more in a comforting environment. Students won't be able to wait to read their books.

With your help I will be able to create a warm and cozy reading environment for my students.
