Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a Title I School, meaning at least 40% of the families in our school are considered low income. The Title I policy is “committed to closing the achievement gap between low-income students and other students” as per the U.S. Department of Education.

First and second graders are such an exciting group with mixed interests and abilities.

Our students have one thing in common, their curiosity for science and art! These students love to build and make new experiments.

My Project

These materials will help 1st and 2nd graders participate in a free STEAM based after school program. This program will help students think critically as well as give them hands-on experience. Additionally, they will engage in exploration and imaginative play with many of the materials.

Students will explore, question and discover their own creative building skills.

With these materials we will incorporate many aspects of art, and science. We will use the watercolor paper, paint, and paint brushes to make creative pictures. We will study coloring mixing as well. We plan to use paint in various ways on paper and off! We also plan to use food coloring for exploring color mixing as well. Finally, we plan on making oobleck and slime by using cornstarch. This will get messy! We need bounty.
