Life in the Academy for Superheroes is never dull! We are superheroes in training developing our vision, heart, strength, endurance, and speed superpowers to not only be educational superheroes, but world changers! We embrace individuality and use our differences to gain deeper understandings.
My class is comprised of 24 first grade students with a vast array of academic levels and always on the move.
Our school focuses on individual growth in all aspects (social, behaviorally, and academically). Our motto and focus is to be team builders, problem solvers and thinkers. To strengthen these skills, we love learning through games and activities where we aren't tied to our desks.
My Project
The materials we are asking for would allow us to remove all traditional student desks. Many of my children's learning styles would be best met if allowed to sit on the floor or stand during instruction or individual work time. These supplies would provide some seating as well as storage for their books and belongings allowing us flexibility not only in our seating choices, but our ability to collaborate on classroom activities.
Many of my students would benefit greatly by having another option for seating.
Research shows that children (and adults) thrive when given different seating options. We are active learners who love to collaborate! Some projects and activities are limited because of space.
