Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Hello! I am a passionate high school social worker. I enjoy providing my students and families with community resources and mental health support. My families are resilient.

My students are brilliant, smart, creative, ambitious, cultured, and proud!

My students strive to be the example: better role models for their families, their communities, and their native countries.

The spring and summer months are approaching very quickly and I want to make sure my young ladies learn how to nurture themselves through reading self-care books, journaling in guided prompted self-love workbooks, and coloring in teen confidence coloring books!

I am going to say it for every public school educator: I wish we had more time to teach our students' healthy self-care practices to include loving on themselves, especially as a teenager. Some of our young ladies struggle with image and confidence and need support in building their self-esteem and confidence. This helps our girls to be successful in their education and career.

Before school lets out, I hope to meet with 2 small groups of female students to have book discussions and a safe space on how to love on themselves. We have 2 months of school left and this would be the perfect opportunity to have these types of discussions: self-care for the summer months.
