My Students

My students are amazing artists! I would like to spark their creativity by using new and exciting materials in the classroom. Art is one of my students favorite subjects. It creates new challenges for my students and offers an array of final products.

When creativity sparks, it is important to keep the momentum going.

Keeping students interested and using problem solving skills is at the root of our art classes. In 40 minutes, we are learning about artists, ideas, and techniques.

My students, school staff, and student families embrace art as an integral part of education and believe that art helps students embrace who they are as individuals.

My Project

Art class is once a week and lasts about 45 minutes. During this 45 minutes it is essential to have students explore ideas, artists, cultures and techniques. This can be lengthy process because deep conversation and exploration are encouraged. When you are working within time constraints, like specifically celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, you want students to be able to share their final product with the school in a relative time frame. The paint, paper plates, and heat gun will help students create an image of the sun inspired by Hispanic Nations, with an emphasis on the different regions of Mexico.

Painting is a lengthy process mostly because of the necessary drying time, with the Heat Gun (used by the teachers in the room) the paint can be dried quickly and students can move on efficiently to the next steps of the project.

The Heat Gun doesn't compromise the importance of the painting process, it provides students with a solid example of how to use tools to save time and accomplish goals in a designated time frame.
