This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students have been placed in a smaller classroom setting (less than 10) to allow for more individualized learning.

They have been labeled emotionally and behaviorally disabled ( ADHD, Autistic, learning disabled) for their differences in learning styles and impulsiveness. They are determined, caring, and capable students who just need a little extra support to blossom. With the support of your donations, my student can obtain the tools, through interactive play with character building focus, to gain the social skills they need to be successful. My students need therapeutic games to be able to express their feelings and emotions freely and safely without judgment while promoting social skills.

My Project

Sessions are conducted in both the counseling office for individual and group sessions as well as in our large classroom setting to encourage team building, social skills, and self control. The saying "Practice Makes Perfect" with my students rings true. With the repetition of positive behaviors and play (with direction and supervision) these students can progress in social situations making learning in the classroom possible. I encourage trust, honesty, and appropriate verbal expression to build confidence and self reliance. With nonverbal students,students with alternative learning skills, or a disability such as autism using games promotes communication skills, helps them practice social skills, self control, and taking responsibility for their actions. My goal is for my students to learn these life skills which are critical in being able to move from special education classes to the general education classes.

My students want very much to be part of the general population.

My job is to encourage them to see that they are already perfect. Being their best self by enhancing their communication skills and peer interactions is the gift I wish to give them.
