Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My school is home to a rich and diverse student population, with students from various backgrounds and cultures. Unfortunately, many of our students feel pressured to conform to what they believe is the 'typical' American culture, and in doing so, they may lose sight of their unique identities.

By providing diverse books to our students, we can help them gain a more comprehensive understanding of the world and develop critical thinking skills.

Reading these books will expose them to different experiences and challenges that people from diverse backgrounds face. This exposure will help our students develop a deeper understanding of others, and as a result, they will become better at connecting and caring for each other.

Moreover, these books will offer different perspectives on historical events, social issues, and other topics, which can help our students gain a more well-rounded education. By reading about different cultures and perspectives, our students will feel stronger in their identities and be encouraged to continue embracing their unique cultures and traditions while adapting to the American culture.

In summary, providing diverse books to our 9th grade students is an important step towards creating a more inclusive and accepting school environment, where our students can feel valued and appreciated for who they are.
